Whirlwind

Is there anything more important, anything more compelling than the power of God?

Seriously. Have you ever asked yourself what you will do when the power of God is no longer comforting you, sustaining you or inspiring you?

Think about this. Demonstrations of His power cannot achieve what one moment in His presence can.

1 Kings 19:11-13

The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.”Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.

God can do through a whisper what cannot be achieved through a whirlwind. He will draw us out of hiding.

We do not need God to blow us away with a demonstration of His power! We do not need God to shake up our world or fire us up with another demonstration of His power!

What we need is a renewed presence, not an increased power.

God will do through a whisper what can never be achieved with an explosion. The Lord may simply work in small ways at this time. God will do in person what can never substituted through provision. Elijah is fed through ravens, widows and angels but he can only be comforted through direct contact. There is a place to run to that is beyond the crowd and the crown.

The heart of Christianity is not a rational, neat, put all the pieces in a box and wrap it with a bow on the top system of faith. It is an irrational system of belief that at the very core is not that God is merely powerful, but that God is supremely PERSONAL! It is not about reason and it is not about rational facts. It is a personal and relational encounter with the living God.  In this mixed up, messed up and irrational world, the greatest journey we must take is from having a rational explanation to having a personal and relational encounter with God.

You want to rock your world?

That God who came to Elijah in a whisper will come to you in an instant.

That God who came to Elijah in a whisper came to the earth thru a virgin.

That God who came to Elijah in a whisper became man in a manger.

That God who quietly met Elijah on Mt. Horeb died very quietly on Golgotha.

The God who commands the wind, the God who commands the earthquakes, the God who commands the fire, the God who commands the rain, the God who commands the ravens, the God who commands the rivers, the God who commands the resources, the God who commands the resurrection is a RELATIONAL God.

The what He does is ALWAYS SUBSERVIENT TO WHO He is. The what he does is IN ORDER to draw us into WHO He is.
