A Message From Pastor Gregg Farrell:

“Yes, it is true. I’m leaving Crossland Community Church.

I have accepted an opportunity to serve at Liberty University, which is an extremely exciting opportunity. It has not been the easiest of decisions, as you can imagine, but at the end of the day, it has been a very clear decision for Tammi and I to make.

I know it’s shocking. It’s shocking to us to be completely honest with you.

Tammi and I, over a lengthy process this summer, have been contemplating and investigating the possibility that God may be calling us to Liberty University.

After much prayer, we made the decision that that’s exactly what God would have us do.

When God begins to move and God begins to make clear, there’s ultimately only one choice once you understand what God’s will is for your life, and that is to obey.

Crossland Community Church is very near and dear to our hearts. As is Bowling Green, Kentucky. We’ve been citizens of this community for over 30 years now, and it does mean, and will continue to mean, so much to Tammi and I.

But the future of Crossland is bright, and not because I was here. It’s because Christ is here.

If God is going to remove me, it’s because He has someone who He wants to place here who can take us to places we would never go. Certainly, that’s our hope and that’s our prayer.

Our staff are extraordinary people. They were called by Christ, not by Gregg. They were called by Christ, not by Crossland.

They do what they do because of who Christ is in their lives, not because of the position they have here at this church.

You can expect that the integrity they’ve always operated with and the passion they’ve always served with is probably going to get even greater now because they’re that kind of people. They know how to dig deep when they have to, to do what God has called them to do.

As we move forward, we have a very strong transition plan in place.

I will continue to teach throughout this transition, and we already have a national search company that’s going to begin the process immediately looking for our next pastor.

I’m going to continue to be an elder all the way through the process and will be involved in the search process with the elders.

While yes, I’m leaving, the immediacy is not tomorrow. It’s not the end of the month. It’s probably going to be months that we walk through this transition together, watching what only God can do.

God is going to do amazing things in our midst. That much I absolutely know.

Thank you for being the kind of church that’s willing to do hard things because we follow a Savior who has done the hardest thing of all. And that’s to die for our sins and raise Himself from the dead so that each and every human being could be given the opportunity to avoid an eternity that’s separated from Him.

This cannot be about me. Don’t make it about me. Let’s make it about Christ.”
